The Subject of Tonight is (Love) Human BonesFor the love of alchemy! I just checked my facebook ads settings to minimize the ads I receive and was terrified. Scroll down to the bottom of this post for explanation. Similarly freaky has been my experience with google ad words. My professional page and website deal with the subject of inner work in the form of esoteric alchemy. A while ago, I tried setting up google ad words, and it suggested as the main category HUMAN BONES. HUMAN f-ing BONES, for crying out loud? What on earth?! Yeah, what is inner alchemy? Dreaming of rotting flesh, burning to dust; charred bone, white ash. Skulls, bones, coffins, some skeletons resurrect themselves, others decay through nature. Corpses, dead bodies, fermenting in mud, on the staircase to the subconscious, snakes (nagas?), some dead, some moving. One has its head severed, its blood on the sword I am carrying inside. “Who are you?” I ask these presences inside. “We are yesterday’s thoughts and feelings.” Only at a Tibetan monastery……I am joking to my friend who is holding space for the session through his presence. HUMAN BONES is not truly an inappropriate category for my work. But why on earth has google ads suggested this? What key words did google Adwords management discover on my professional website that made it decide that my business was most likely of all dealing in human bones? (Temporary, most likely) Result: Some poetry is there, expressing aspects of this inner dreaming. “skull”and “bone” are there, “skeleton,” “bony hand.” Facebook Ads — A Dream! I checked my facebook ads settings to minimize the ads I receive. Please wallow in my wrathless disbelief together with me as I boringly list too many examples but am still steaming too much to edit any further than this: “You have this preference because of your activity on Facebook related to xyz’s Page, for example clicking on one of their ads.” But most of these are not specific pages. They are areas of interest. For example, “artist” — there is no page inside the window. As a friend of art, and a graduate of an art school, can you imagine how many sweet and wonderful and fierce artist pages I have liked? Some of facebook's interest sub category pages do offer a specific business page, however I have never heard of this business nor interacted with it. I have interacted with facebook friends on similar topics, or liked a good friend's "comparable" page, with the irremovable discrepancy that my heart is part of this facebook-click action. For example, AsyaPatent. (see illustration below). Beneath the image, there is a general subcategory of facebook's header category Business and industry: “Dietician.” One of my friends’ wife is a dietician in Shimla. I have of course facebook-liked her page. But her page certainly is not AsyaPatent. Instead, it is her name, Dietician Vipasha. Further page-less key categories in my ad preferences development section reveal: Truth. Emotions. Management. Philosophy. Aesthetics. Human behavior. Then locations: “Mongolia”. I am surprised here but only briefly: I have researched Mongolia online several weeks ago. Facebook was not open at the time. “Point Richmond.” Yeah, my US home address. “Simla.” See my friend’s dietician wife above. “Nutritionist.” Under fb’s Fitness and Wellness category heading. Well, this one is also already explained by my friend's sweetheart's dietician website. “Restaurants.” WTF? Oh — I shared with a friend in a private message about looking for places where to eat meat in Himachal-Pradesh. "Food." Food? Ah! I had shared with him that I required specific food (namely healthily grassfed beef in the form of any available red meat) to sustain the flesh on my bones here in India.
“Child.” Why? Oh, one brief alchemical image including my inner child self shared as my story on facebook. So far so well bad. Now onward. Remove facebook as a collecting platform. Further ad categories are (Creepy? Disturbing? Truthful?) Drink tea and read further: “Soccer.” Why? Not something I remember discussing on facebook. In a personal email to a friend, yes. The inner game of soccer. And it knows “Therapy” “Academy,” “Webcam” under its ads gathering rubric “other”. Why? I closed a yelp account describing therapeutic and healing work. I am a faculty member of “Bridges Academy.” I have discussed webcams in personal emails only, and later purchased my friend’s recommended one. Under the rubric lifestyle and culture, facebook is aware: ALCHEMY. Yep. Yep. So let me here SCREAM! that my dream is my life at www.esoteric-alchemy.com

It matters to me to bring compassion and humanity to money. I see much suffering in regards to economy and currency, and have not been a stranger to it, either. But when we meet ourselves and others with love and empathy, we begin to see clearly, and can make wise and peaceful choices. |
