Sometimes it is OK to be alone. Sometimes it is better to be alone than to be with the wrong people. Yes, sometimes it is OK to be by oneself.
Learning to be yourself outside of your circumstance is a special path that some people take. It can be difficult, but it is also rewarding. This path involves going inward. The difficulty mostly comes from the misperception that the outer world is important. The inner world is much more fulfilling than the outer world. This fulfillment is what makes the inner journey important.
You might think we don't know what we are talking about, but we live in the inner world and we know it is where true riches lie.
To learn to be yourself outside from your circumstance is to master the inner world. Mom had a very difficult time in India, but she learned about being herself despite her circumstance while stuck in the monastery during the COVID shutdown. Her circumstance was difficult and forced her to go deeper inside than ever before. Luckily, God allowed her to escape while she still had all her marbles. Soon she will understand the riches she obtained from that experience.
Big Mark has spent his whole life alone. It is the circumstance he was born into. Because of this, he has a very rich inner world. This is why he and Mom are friends—they understand each other. They understand that the inner world is real and they are OK with that. They also understand that the price of a rich inner world is sometimes an empty outer world. Loneliness is sometimes the currency needed to climb the inner ladder. This is not always the case, but it does happen from time to time.
We will say more about these things on another day.
